Reported speech: statements, commands, questions



STATEMENTS:


I don’t feel well, so I have taken an aspirin and I’ll go straight to bed!”- John said.


John told me he didn’t feel well, so he had taken an aspirin and he would go straight to bed!

  

COMMANDS:


“Shut up, please! And don’t copy the graph”, the teacher said.


The teacher told the students TO SHUT up and NOT TO COPY the graph.


QUESTIONS:

Yes/No questions:


“Do you like eating pizza everyday?” – she wondered.


She wondered IF he liked eating pizza everyday.



Wh-questions:


“Where did he sleep?” – they inquired.


They inquired WHERE he had slept.
